Ebook Buzz~~ Follow up and Reviews

A while back Angie W was looking for people to review ebooks published by Samhain Publishing, some even for free, but seeing as I had already purchased four or so Samhain books, I told Angie I'd do them for free.

Book #1--Forever Again by Shannon Stacey. Loved it. I read it as soon as it came out at Samhain a while back, so I won't go into detail, but I will say this... Forever Again is a great story about two people who, out of circumstance, found their way back to one another in spite of the past. In fact, they both learned from the past and that is why they will have a future together... Forever Again. My verdict: Two enthusiastic thumbs up!
NOTE: Shannon Stacey has another book coming up at Samhain on June 20th, called 72 Hours and I will be one of the first in line to purchase this book.

So, I read (or tried to read) book #2 by Elisa Adams called Reality Check. I am a big fan of Elisa Adams and so I was shocked to find the book was a big thumbs down. The dialog wasn't realistic so I didn't get very far. My problem was, the heroine was supposed to be a strong, independent, and bossy woman, yet when she came in contact with the hero, it seemed her backbone fell out of her ass and she ended up doing whatever he suggested. Seemed strange and kinda schizophrenic and I couldn't be arsed to finish it... and I was bummed, big time.
My verdict: Not sure, it was a DNF, but I may go back to it sometime in the future.

Moving on to book #3, Lora Leigh's Loving Lies. I have to say I am also a fan of this author, but this book didn't do it for me. Why? First, in my opinion (which may not mean much to some), the sex lacked emotion. It wasn't written with Ms. Leigh's normal flare but rather it read more like something you'd read in a porn magazine such as Hustler. I seriously like hot sex scenes, but eeeek! Do people really talk like that? Ick. But, I guess, to each his own. Second, the hero left her high and dry, no explanationto her, instead pushed her away for her own good/safety but didn't tell her that.. nope he just left her feeling like she wasn't woman enough for him and crusted her heart to bits. I wanted to rip out his spleen and then shove it down his throat. Jerk. Then they both sleep with other people, him with a woman he claims to despise, yet they create a child together, and her with one of the heros best friends. Hmm. It didn't work for me.... but, again, it's just me. So, then hero comes home after five years and is wanting said heroine back... does he tell her about the child or the reasons he left? Nope. Instead he seduces her, and, of course, she falls right into his arms. TSTL? Kinda... I'd have wanted some explanations first... and all of them.
My verdict: Eh, it was okay. For me this book was a little disappointing... was it so bad that I DNF'd it? Nope. I finished it. Will I read it again? Probably not. Will I recommend it to my friends and fellow readers? Maybe. Will I read more of Lora Leigh? You bet your sweet bootie I will. I've got Nauti Buoy on my ebookwise which was picked up to be published in NY, so it's no longer available from Samhain Publishing. But if the mass of Lora Leigh fanchicks are correct, this will be more of what I'm used to from this phenomenal author.

Book #4, Rescue Me by Jaci Burton-- My verdict-- Two enthusiastic thumbs up! Wonderful book and I could kick myself for waiting so damn long to buy it. Crap. To me, the book was a little Harlequinesque which I am a fan of, and the love-hate relationship between the H & H was great. They fought their attraction so hard... didn't work though. *snicker* And when they finally got together... boom!!! Fireworks! Then the hero, caring soul that he is, follows the "if you love something set it free" philosophy and lets the heroine leave to find what she's looking for. *sigh* Sweet, yet idiotic... she had already found what she was looking for. HIM! Men! Wanna just biff them upside the head sometimes. LOL I snickered here and there and I even teared up a couple times. It was a heartwarming story about two lonely people who, in the end, rescue one another... and Rescue Me is a book that I will definitely read again.

My verdict: *In George Costanza's voice* Two thumbs up for this one, baby!!!
Hey! I wonder if Mrs. Burton will eventually get around to telling Brady and Emma's story. Hmmm... maybe after her 100 gazillion deadlines she's got now she might... until then, I'll be hoping. : )

My verdict of Samhain Publishing: I love it. Why? I love the books, love the authors, and the check out and shopping experience are a breeze. The prices are fair and competitive with other epublishers and the books also go to print rather quickly which is a definite plus. As an avid reader I'll be frequenting Samhain Publishing and I encourage you to do so also. You won't be disappointed.
